I been playing a four all my life, 1.5 inch at the nut. Now, am looking to step into a five string with narrow width at the nut. Any suggestions? Ibanez looks good so far in this way, others?

THIN NECK 5 STRING?

Yup, Ibanez. I like Jazz-width(1.5" @ the nut on a 4)necks and have always liked Ibanez(Soundgear as opposed to BTB's).
Ibanez.
If you can't make their basses sound great you're doing something wrong with your amp, and they are more comfortable than anything else.

Not sure what level of performance or features you're looking for, but if you're looking for a thin neck profile, I'd say stick with the Soundgear (SR) series of Ibanez. An SR505 is a great starting point.
Carvins are nice too. I was considering both Carvin and Ibanez. They are both 1.75" on their fives, though. You won't find anything in 1.5". Believe me, I've searched high and low.
With my small hands, anything bigger is going to a stretch, so I decided to convert a four string jazz to five instead. It will make for a really tight string spacing, but I'm primarily a pick player, so I'm really looking forward to it.

the yamaha bb series basses are another option and there are basses in a bunch of price points In that series.

to be clear..SR series are thinner than the other models..(btb,atk..)
I would start at the SR505 as well.
What model Carvin? I know they told me their Brian Brombergs all have a wide string spacing, which generally means a wider nut.
ESP LTD series have pretty thin/narrow necks, but I have never seen anything thinner than Ibanez SR.
There are people that have had Rickenbacker 4003s modded for 5 strings. Those are already tight for a 4 string so after the mod I'll wager that's the smallest 5-string nut in the world.

After Playing 4's I stepped up to a Schecter 5 adjusting was a struggle. Returned to a 4. Shortly after I Played a Carvin Bromberg and the Feel was amazing. So i Ordered one. Something about the neck makes this Bass incredible. The whole Bass is Amazing.And a Blast to Play.
USA Peavey Axcelerator-5, narrow and thin neck, very comfortable. I like it's neck more than my Ibanez SR4005e
Yeah, Ibanez sr Series or Schecter Stiletto series, although the Schecter will be 35" scale - those are about as narrow as it gets for 5ers... EBMM's Sterling 5 is close, though - and definitely a step above the Ibanez or Schecter...

I put 5 strings on 4 string necks. For me the p-bass neck makes a really good 5 string neck.
