Eat meat pies with tomato sauce (sorta ketchup) at sporting events.

Call red-haired people "bluey".

Laugh uproarishly at anything from Roots (means having sex).

Fanny refers to female genitalia. A good swift kick in the fanny is *not* what someone needs in Oz.

Barbies are hot gridddles, not grills like we use.

Drink delicious Cascade beer from Tasmania.

one thing Australians do.

go to Bali. why do we even bother?.... Go go Indonesia to hang out with other Australians and poke fun at Germans about the war (let me tell you, Australian humour doesn't go down well with Germans)

Call people "cobber," which I hope is a term of endearment.

struth, cobber is a bonza term mate, only for the most fair'dinkum.

ripper little saying that is.

Get 'em while you can!!

^^ I drank Foster's as a very young man, nearly spit it out (ok, I obviously wouldn't actually spit out beer), and didn't understand. I gave it a second chance in my wiser years and fully understood. It's a red hearing gatekeeper designed to keep the worst kind of tourists off of the continent.

edit* We call the big foster's can an oil can in the US. I don't really understand because I don't think it's possible to create an oil that watered down.

Beer in lieu of soup? General cavalier attitude? No indignant responses to the jokes about life down under?

After only three pages of this thread, I am convinced I need to get a passport and tourist visa for Australia.

come on down!

the food is warm
the sand is warm
the waters warm
the beer is warm
the nights are warm

its warm.

Pay $3000 for a Fender bass.

That's why I don't own any real Fenders. Pretty happy with my Warmoth necked MIJ franken-P-bass and now my Warmoth necked fretless Blacktop Jazz. Total purchase price for BOTH of them put together...... $1000 Aud (around $740 US at current rates :bassist: :hyper:

Yep. Fairly sure i havent heard anyone ever use that expression.

Actually, my best mate of over 30 years still uses that expression regularly.
