Motrac ≠ CB. Probably off a 1970s low band or high band VHF mobile, the guts were a large box in the trunk. Great radios, built like a brick. You'd key up and the car headlights would dim.

Back in the day, my dad was into CBs big time. We had a private telephone pole "tower" complete with a motorized directional antenna array. He wanted his base station to be able to reach out to his car CB all the way to work which was a considerable distance away. To accomplish this, we sometimes used illegal signal amplifiers to boost the output wattage. This was in the pre-cable TV days when everyone was using some sort of antenna to receive TV programming. Boy, that base station could put a serious hurting on the neighborhood TVs. That signal amplifier was all flaming vacuum tubes, baby, and it would dim the lights when you hit that toggle switch.
My dad's been dead a couple of years now. Thanks for sparking that memory.
Pogs!
Unless somebody has already mentioned it...

Living wages? LMFAO. The term Living wage is relatively new, and seemingly something for the PC panderers.
When I was developing my work skills in jr High, High School and through my undergraduate years, we called it "Making a living". This is what you did by developing useable skills and working your way up in a job. You didn't just get some "immediate wage level" because this is what people feel they need to live comfortably. You worked and struggled to make ends meet so you could achieve a better wage through merit and hard work.
Things you don't see anymore?
Work ethic and ambition.

They still sell Big Hunks in a lot of stores.
i haven't seen one in a long long time around here. used to love those things when I was a kid.
I don't see big hunk nearly as much as I used to. I wonder if they cut back production
I wasn't into cb radios, but both my brothers were. I remember how much one of the them wanted, and finally got the highly esteemed d104 lolipop.
