There are still plenty of video arcades around here. Well, maybe not "plenty", but they opened up a new one not long ago in my area, complete with bowling alley, billiards, and karaoke.

Yeah, "plenty" is probably not the right word. You seem them once in a blue moon (adult oriented or more family oriented). D&B is an exception and that's largely because it's also a restaurant and bar - and a lot of their games generally suck.

It's part of the reason why I'm doing internet arcade game programming. Check out the other thread I started: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f34/huoli-arcade-redux-2013-version-need-people-test-940305/

1. Kids playing stick ball on the block That you won't see, cuz stickball went the way of the dodo, probably in the 50s. They play little league now.
2. Stick shifts Plenty of those still around
3. Music programs in school Diminishing, but still existent
4. Handwritten letters Outdated and slow, but I believe Mike still writes letters
5. Grieving for loved ones recently passed Thats seen all the time, I still go to the cemetary on my son's birthday
6. Cat lovers I am one, and know of many more
7. Businessman in suit smoking cigar on the street Was that ever something people saw?
8. Father and son playing catch That Ive not seen in some time
9. Cops walkin' the beat Maybe in the UK? Cops don't really "walk beats" in Los Angeles
10.The haircut heads poster at the stylist I havent been to a barber (stylist? :eyebrow:) since I shave my head
11. People dressed to the T at airports The air of self importance is still fully present at LAX
12. Dinner not starting till everyone's at the table That depends on the family, at my parents house, we always ate dinner together. Less so these days.

When I was in college and when they were the New Hot Thing, I was a manager for a local video arcade chain...I got the job 'cause I could beat the owners on pretty much any pinball machine they owned (and they bought all the latest & trick'est machines back then). I would love to own a machine myself...I'm still pretty good at it.
