Yeah and I sent for this only sold a few packets to my grandmother!
This was the birth of gas for me. I used to stare at the pictures of these things, and want them so badly. In this particular ad the snorkeling gear and bicycles got me. Like you, I think my only sales also went to my grandmother. And mother. I believe I did a little better with the greeting card sales. The Olympic sales club was it?

For you woodworking fans, the Rockwell/Delta Uniplane, I remember it from woodshop in 6th grade, thing wound up like a jet engine and took forever to stop spinning once you turned it off
I worked as a Machinist Apprentice when I was in my early 20's it was a part time gig and the guys shop was in the garage behind his house. He had big belts on in the rafters on wheels and used a large board to move the belts to different wheels to run the mills and drill press so we are talking old stuff here Bridgeport milling machine 1940's no thankfully I kept all of my fingers but he was missing 2 on one hand and 1 on the other cutoff while cutting sheets of steel on a cutting press

We made bunson burners for schools and Colleges he also invented the machine that took shelves of of peanuts automatically
many a night pulling metal splinters out of my hands and fingers before a gig.

Some machinery I used to work with in the printing business were Ludlow Machines. They used to create large type for headlines.

I worked part time for a little while at a printing place and my job was what was called the hell box it was a box where dropped type faces were put into one big box and my job was to clean them up and put them into that box pictured with all the little openings! maybe was there two weeks hated it!
That would be called a California job case. I used them too. I have a couple old ones in my garage from a print shop.
