That's what I was thinking.

I would not go anywhere near 45mph in one of those! I might go as high as 20mph, and I wouldn't even do that without a helmet. And it would only be for fun on private property, never in traffic.

EDIT: The first thing it reminded of was bumper cars!😂
Other than the highways, the roads in England are small. Its not too much of a stretch to see why small cars got along well there.
On some back roads, the mini cooper was the only car that could pass others safely and quickly.

There was a 3 wheel car in England that would roll over easily.
After long usage, a road will develop two parallel grooves from the left & right wheels of all the cars. The front wheel of the Reliant Robin would always be on the hump between those grooves, making driving an unstable experience. Yes, you don't see them much. I had a ride in one in the late 80s I think.
