I think they contained the stuff that ended up being the key ingredient in street meth. It might also have to do with the Tylenol capsule poisonings in the early '80s. Contac was once a very popular cold medicine. The commercials for it were very common.

AFAIK, Contac is in caplet/tablet form with different ingredients now.

I like the statement on the package for "Common Cold & Hay Fever" instead of "Allergies". I do not see any medicines that say "Hay Fever" on them now.

It looks like the Howard Johnson Restaurants are done. However, the Hotel chain is still going strong as a subsidiary of the Wyndham Hotel Company.
There was one we almost stayed at--but after going to our room and finding a dirty room--and a previous guest's underwear--we went to the desk, said we couldn't stay there, and left--never got charged for it--so we drove around and found a much better place for about $10 more a night--and well worth it.

Apparently the place has a new owner now.
