Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

I know a few guys that still have them. They trot them out at Disco retro parties. I also see them occasionally on Halloween.
 
So here's something you'd have never gotten me to admit to back in 1972.

Who I idolized because I thought he had what I needed if I ever wanted to be with someone like this girl...

And the right hair was important.

Right around that time was when men started going to "hair stylists" as opposed to barbers. Problem was that hair stylists charged $15, while barbers charged around $2. My parents refused to cough up the extra $13, so I was left to my own devices to do whatever was necessary to have Keith Partridge hair.

I started styling my own hair, and worked on it every wednesday night.

I'd trim it myself, wash it - put conditioner in it (something else that was new to me at the time), and then use one of these (my moms):
