GET OUT OF HERE!
You really did? I was in NY from 1969 to the early 80's so Crazy Eddie was a part of my life.
Yes, it would have been from 1980 to 1984 in the Paramus, NJ store. Oddly enough, that was also a Tower Records store after Crazy Eddie went out of business.
How cool!
They moved tons of gear over the years.
Wasn't that time-frame about when New Jersey abolished the "Blue Laws" for not opening retail stores on Sundays?
(We have a local used car dealer here in Tucson that uses the Crazy Eddie playbook...really annoying, crazed-sounding, over-the-top promises. But that sort of thing DOES stick in the brain. We still remember Crazy Eddie all these years later...)
I don't know that they ever abolished the blue laws. They were still in effect when I moved out of that hell hole in 2004. I can say that because of the blue laws, traffic wasn't bad on Sundays. Every other day it was a nightmare.
Ha ha...I know what you mean. There are some lovely areas in NJ but some bad areas too. Certainly, some horrible traffic.
But my wife came out of the place so I give the state a pass.
Just barely.![]()
