I was driving through a construction zone this week, and got to thinking about the old days, back when warning "lights" were provided by flames... Took me a bit to remember, but I beleive they were called smudge pots. Thanks to the google, here's a photo:

I learned how to program keys on an original Moog in college. The controls took up an entire wall that had to be 12 feet wide. A second wall was filled with patch cords, etc. Then we made our generational leap to the DX-7. Our final exam was trying to program a useable piano sound.

Has Stretch been posted in this thread yet? Was thinkin about that guy yesterday for no good reason. Not too sure I ever even owned him, but I know I stretched him a few times. I think a cousin had one.

Smudge Pot is correct. As kids, we used to steal them and play with them.
