The collegiate SWC (Southwest Conference).

Also the Pac-8 or Pac-10 (now the Pac-12) or the Big 8 (now the Big 12).

Over the past 15 or so, that's true. It wasn't true when I was coming up, though! The Pac-8, Big 8, SWC and SEC were pretty much even back then, and remained pretty much even as the conferences morphed and grew through the '80s and '90s, with teams like Notre Dame, Miami and Florida State staking their claim from time to time.
