I had a Soundesign 8 track recorder! I wore it out recording The King Biscuit Flower Hour.
One of my sixth-grade teachers had one of those in his room. He was pretty cool. If we were well behaved, and had some kind of assignment we could do quietly (reading in our books, or writing a report or some such), he'd switch on the ree-to-reel, on which he'd recorded some of the latest music, to help the time pass.
This was the turntable in our household while growing up in the '60s (pictured in your ad). Thought it was so cool because we could play records backwards, speed them up, etc...
