This chain of hot dog stands was founded in Miami Beach in 1956 by the Pearlman family, and at its peak there were more than 400 locations nationwide. The South Florida fixture, whose trademark was hot dogs steamed in beer, was so successful, in fact, that the company went public and bought Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in 1969. The chain was purchased by Wienerwald in 1978, but overextended itself and filed for bankruptcy a few years later. Today there’s only one Lum’s left, in Bellevue, Neb.

There's one in Seekonk, MA. I haven't eaten there though...

I remember when there used to be cigarette machines in public places. If a kid a 35 cents, and could reach the coin slot, they could buy a pack of Camel straights on the way to school.

I only see cigarette machines in some private clubs and a few bars. They are usually $7.00 or $8.00 a pack in the machines. I'm glad I don't smoke. It would cost a small fortune.

Oh wow, I had those!!! You could rotate the badge depending on how you wanted to orient them, classy!
I had the receiver too, the am/fm with built-in 8 track deck. You could burn your own 8 track tapes-it was the height of cool back in, what, 1975-1980? Ahh memories.

This was a small place maybe on 206. The right hand side as you went towards the country. I believe, as the memories drift upward that it was McKeons, Where Duck is King.

Stokes was a cool place. I wonder if it's still there.
