I wanted one of those "dragsters" (as they were called down here). Never did get one, and, looking back, that was probably a good thing. I had a single speed bike 26" wheels for years and rode everywhere on it. nothing like riding up into the Hills and coming down again as fast as you can go, IIRC I got up to 50mph down one hill on one occasion. Scary at the bottom as my brakes could only do so much. It was only when I got back into riding in my late 20s that I actually had gears to use. I'd ride 10 miles to work and back every day.
 
Here's mine (not mine, but one almost exactly like it.) I did not have the tall sissy bar, just the short version. Like many of us growing up back then, we practically lived on our bikes, rode them everywhere.
