Every time my parents left us at my grand parents house they always watched this and Gunsmoke
no wonder my Dad played country music ha ha ha
Yep, my brother and I spent many miles sitting on the wheel wells in the back of my dad's pickup back in the 60s and 70s. And many of those miles were on the highway, not just in town. I, on the other hand, never allowed my kids to do that in my truck when they were young. Nope, not ever.

My wife and I got to know Miss Mary Ann (King), who hosted the show from the mid-60s to mid-70s. She was the one who would say that particular phrase. I don’t know if other hosts were used in other cities, but Miss Mary Ann was in Los Angeles. She lived in Hacienda Heights, CA, until she died in 2016. She was a very nice lady.
