If you shop the grade school art fairs, you can find them really cheap.
That's the "3 F" rule. If it Floats, Flies or, lets just say Female here, it will be expensive to maintain.

It depends on the artist. If you’re looking at Robert Rauschenberg, you can expect to pay in the tens of millions of dollars, but if you like, I would be happy to make you one in the mere tens of thousands of dollars.
Funny, but we were looking at this place and the price was crazy expensive for 24*36 $300.00 and only because it was 50% off. I had a nice one done years ago of the family when the kids were little and it was only $75.00 we wanted to update it to today and it is way over priced imo.

It takes expensive equipment to make a print that large, so you are paying partially for the cost of the equipment, what it took to learn how to operate it, cost of that persons college education, large for mat film, etc.
Its interesting what is considered a collage these days. Initially it was an assemblage of cutouts of magazines, newspaper clippings, photos, clippings of text, paint, among other things. But the above photo would fall technically under that definition. It used to be that if you were talking about a collage, you were referring to something that looked like this.

When I was single I would say dates. I am not kidding, drinks, a meal, that stuff adds up especially when you are dating more than one woman at a time. At least a lot of the time there is a payoff but that adds up. I once took a month off from dating and was shocked how much money I saved.
As for other things IMHO I think cable is no longer worth it. Just get Internet and the choices are endless.
My fiance, she is very expensive but thankfully she makes a lot of money and buys most of her own crap.
