Things you'd like to see from SX

instead of getting the quality of a $400-$500 bass for $100, id rather get the quality of a $800-$900 bass for $400

they should step everything up a few notches..

Good point. The LTDs were a step in the right direction,
but there's room for more.
I don't know if I want to move that up to $400 :) , but I'd still
be in the game at a $300 price point if it bought me:

- A better nut - maybe graphite
- A better control cavity, with very high quality pots and wiring
- Pickups that are more than *improved*
- QC that nearly Guarantees no one gets a lemon or a bass
they have to put work into; QC that nearly guarantees no
finish disappointments

Oh, you want a Brice:

Except the Brices have been focused on styles that exist in many forms elsewhere. And, the models are often focused on > 4 string, longer scale***, and glitzy looks. I'm also not sure they arrive in any better shape than the SX's. [I could be wrong, but, if someone is inspecting and hand polishing frets like with the LTD's, the descriptions sure don't say so. I also don't have any reason to believe what's inside the control cavity is any better.]

But, if there were Brice models of work-horse-looking better P's, J's, and short scales, and those
models took care of the important details, then we might have something to talk about. :)

If they dont make a 51/54 copy I'd be shocked. In fact, if they dont have it out within 14 months of this posting, I'll drive to Union and personally hand him $100 bucks... Oh wait, they aint in Union anymore! Oh well!

Anyway, they WILL have a 51/54 p bass. They MUST.

(and regarding the Brice basses, I agree. )

I've actually spoken with Kurt about this. He thought it was a good idea (and he may well have already been thinking about it or had other people ask about it, so I'm not taking credit for it.)

However, he spoke with SX and they weren't interested in doing it.

So he tells me he hopes to roll out a Douglas version in early '09.

I have no idea whether it'd be slab or contoured. But I hope it goes through.
