I'm the same way with my parents music. I'm clueless on about 99% of it. I'll oversimplify this band; sold approx 23 million records and they are responsible (along with a few other folk) for squashing & eliminating "hair metal" from the 80's. Also, Chris Cornell (singer/guitarist) was ranked 9th of "greatest singers of all time by Rolling Stone, has a 4 octave range, and has won 3 Grammy's.
I do the same thing with my parents music. I hear something and think it's ridiculous then find out later that back in the day, it was the best/most popular band/song. My parents would be irritated that I wasn't aware, lol.

It wasn't a challenge, just a question to see if you think you could. I play regular low, NOT super deluxe extreme low like Ben.

If you mean low in register, of course I can.
If you mean dragging the bass on the stage, oh h**l no. Both personal preference and age would prevent it.
I’ve heard that hanging the bass low on the strap emphasizes the bass frequencies much as mahogany bodies and rosewood fretboards add warmth. Higher on the strap adds more snap like ash and maple, they tell me.

I would argue that he cannot play that low either, there is a reason his note choices are limited to one spot on the bass.
Apparently, we have been made aware of the best height for metal.
And there was a time when Slim Whitman and Nina Mouskari (sp?) were the best selling artists in Europe. Doesn't mean they're talented or skilled as musicians, just popular.
I love Soundgarden but the first time I saw their bass player I was like, "How can he even play that thing?" Seen them live twice and both times Cornell got pretty quiet on the high notes. I expected the blast from the albums and got a screechy whine instead.

I had no idea that wad him! Yeah I used to sing his stuff while trying to play bass. It was one of the hardest things I ever tried. Maybe the poor recording quality threw me off.
If their bass player switched to the upright bass he could still set it on the floor to play it but at least he could stand while doing so. This music isn't my up of tea, neither are the bass players antics, but to each their own.
