Think you could play this low?

One very good bass player I know has his bass as stupidly high as Ben has his low. His bandmates regularly lengthen his strap around half a centimeter every other day or so and it almost gets to the point of being an acceptable height before he realises. Quite funny!!

As for Ben, that really is stupid low and most of it is purely for how it looks. The fact that he has it much higher these days confirms that he now prefers some comfort to how it looks.

I didn't like the music from 25 years ago, either, so, so what? And no, it would be impossible for me to play my bass that low - unless I wanted to spend what's left of my life walking like a chimpanzee. God, I miss Buddy Holly...;):D
A challenge to you; put on the track "Outshined" & crank it. Tell me you don't want to pick up your bass & detune to D and start thumpin.

Ah ... Soundgarden. I'm not much of a Grunge fan, I have always liked Alice in Chains though.

Soundgarden's bassist has never impressed me, but I always liked their drummer for that type of music.
I absolutely love "Jesus Christ Pose", that's a fantastic in your face track.
Here's the version from the same concert.

Definitely not the best version IMO.
Regarding that bass. I'm 6 foot 2 and have long arms, I could play like that, BUT: 1. it's horribly uncomfortable and very limiting in terms of hand movement. 2. it looks beyond silly and stupid.

That rules. Thanks for posting. Outside of the Grunge/Soundgarden movement, IT DOES look ridiculous. But in the moment of 1992/93 & for what the music was along with the movement, it fit (IMO).
