- I like 5, 8, 10, and 12 string basses
If you get an active 5er go with a 3 or 4 band preamp. Ibanez and Schecters with a 2 band amp suck.
I like the jazz and I like 5 string basses ... but I am not a fan of the Fender wide necked 5ers. So I build my own 5 string jazz basses. I use a Fender body and a 4 string p-bass neck.
