I'm not sure if that's technically fired if you've never really played with them. It sound like they are just flaking out.

Call the bandleader ask him whats up...gig still on, did it get cancelled, etc.
Based on your original post, he wont answer so you will have to leave a voicemail.
At the end of the voicemail sound cheerful and be SURE to conclude with "OK see you guys at the venue for the gig im psyched!".
This will guarantee some kind of proactive response by the bandleader if you are fired- becUse they cant afford a scene at the club if you show and theres a sub bassist setting up next to the kick drum!!
  4. A rescinded job offer doesn't equate to being fired, so you're good...still a perfect record. :)

There could be any number of reasons they didn't get back to you...including flaking out (as noted above).

Dont get this...YOU told them what songs to do and to send you what key the songs are in? Have you been in this band and rehearsing?

Yes ...I have been with them a few months ....and we have had a practices but we could not get together until the gig...and I wanted the key to the new songs so I could work on them before the gig....we would get there early and go over them before the gig

This is a great "band management" thread. As a "Bass" thread, not so much.

Sound pretty unorganized. Personally, I'd be happy to move on to another band. :)

I think you may have intimidated them with your work ethic. "New songs?, You worked on the new songs?"

Was the email 4 or 5 string? Long or short scale?

I've been fired before!!! Don't burn any bridges! It's only Music! Just remain friends, even support them if they pick up a new player. Sometimes, some of the players may start an even better band, and they might want you back! Just my thoughts, and personal experience!

Don't rely on e-mail or texts. They can be ignored too easily, lost, told they were not received, etc. You can try them first, but if you don't hear back within 24 hours, you have to call. Someone has to be professional and communicate, and since you're the one wigging out, it must be you.

I'm going through a very similar "communication" situation right now. Texts not answered and I start thinking something is wrong, so I call, and there is no problem.

Ummmmm yeah, a recinded job offer does equal fired. ;) They wanted you, but now they don't? if the gig is on but not with "you" You have been fired. The only way it does not is if the gig has been totally cancelled.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who isn't afraid to actually TALK to someone on the phone.

And If you get no answer make a visit to them in person.

In person is usually the best thing, IMO.
