Thinking of going Eden.. Thoughts?

I use a lowly Eden WT330 in a CXC110 combo and slide a D112XLT under it for 4 ohms. Loud? yes Tone? killer. My original set-up with this head was (2) D112XLTs and (1) D410T - I went smaller because I was always being asked to turn down (in a very load playing situation). I got tried of lugging three cabs around, only to be asked to turn down.

More important than volume is the Eden sound, which apparantly not everyone loves.

I also have a GK Mb500 stack with a 210 and 115, that is loud and has great tone.

i seldom use an amp anymore, but when the need arises, I have two really good choices to turn to. My buddys in the bands I'm in? they ask me to bring my Eden. :bassist:

Now you guys are all making me mourn my Eden gear.....
Not the weight....but ...wow! what a great sound I had with my WT800 410XLT and 210XLT combo.

Before that , my WT400 and two 210XLTs.....Not too shabby either!

I would say it's a decent deal if the cab is in tip top shape. I'd offer seven , though. Eden , to me, is great stuff. Tough to beat the sound in a live setting for a solid state head. The xst cab is used alot as a sub but I'm sure it does fine as a stand alone. I'd add a 2-10 xlt to it and call it a day for awhile.

I've been trying amps out for a long time, keep finding great sounding ones. But somehow my little Eden WT-550 never gets the boot, and it keeps on ticking away sweetly, sounding good with all my cabs and being the perfect choice for when my SVT is too big for the stage.

It sounds great with my VT pedal and it sounds great clean. If it was my main amp I probably would have replaced it by now, but as a backup and home amp it's great.

Unlike some other amps, you HAVE to get the gain structure right or else it sounds thin, dull, and lifeless. Crank the gain until the red light flashes often, then back it of a bit so it only flashes on your lowest hardest played notes, and you're there.

What you are buying is essentially an Eden Metro as components. I think the Metro is 500 watts and has two channels FET and Tube pre. 210XST is exactly the same.

I find there stuff to be very musical sounding. Its a full and clean bass sound. I have one and love it. It my practice amp now because it weights 100lbs and I do not want to move it.

I see Metros used for $600 bucks all the time and that is at Guitar Center so $650 is probably a bit high. I am speaking about US$s not sure what the exchange rate does to the equation.

I usually play bass through IEM'S....and a short while ago I played a venue where they had a backline for everyone in the band.They had an EDEN WORLD TRAVELER and the 4 10 cab with a horn, and I along with the rest of the band was amazed at how awesome the bass tone was.I usd a Yamaha 5 string and it was like magic.You won't be dissapointed...!!

I recently picked up a tiny little Eden practice amp used and cheap. It has a really great tone for a tiny little 15 watt combo and made me wonder why, after all these years, I had not even plugged into an Eden rig.

So I headed to the nearest Eden dealer and checked out what a bigger Eden rig sounded like! Over the years I have played SWR, Trace, Seymour Duncan, GK, Peavey, Yamaha, Fender, and Ampeg. My main head now is a Genz Benz that I really like. I was very impressed with the WT550! Very warm sounding, solid lows, sounds good before any adjustment to the EQ, and has very useable features on the front panel. I tested it with an Eden 4x10 and it sounded fantastic. But the list price on that head was over $1300, so even at the super-bargain deal it was $899 which is more than I can spend right now. they were asking $1049 for the 4x10 which is way out of my price range as well. But now I can say I like Eden gear!

+1. The only time I've heard people claim a lack of power was when they didn't know how the EQ worked and had the controls all wonky.

Anecdotal evidence isn't evidence however, so take most of the replies in this thread with a grain of salt :D

Eden prices are high for the top of the line heads and cabs, except when something is discontinued and the dealers blow them out, like the $495 I paid for my WT405, or the $795 a guy at the Eden forum just paid for a WTB1000 (which bridges 1200 watts into 4 ohms, same power section as the WT800). But used Eden gear is a bargain--there are a few good items in the TB classified folder right now, and your local Craigslist may be another good source. Good luck, Bob
