Thinking of going Eden.. Thoughts?

Jeez, they are both around 8 years old though. Seller claims very little use, he plays in a church gospel group (so very low volume).

8 years old though, should I be concerned?

If anything, eight year-old Eden gear is likely to be of better quality than Eden gear only a year or two old. And if it's truly in great condition, and has been played only in a protected environment (like at church), at low volume, then that might just be ideal.

BTW, the Traveller 400 plus 210XST makes for an excellent jazz rig - just in case you're into that sort of thing: warm, round, deep yet clear. Really, really nice!

Dbassmon: Some of what you are saying about the Metro is wrong. The Metro is 600W at 2 ohms, not 500W and the cab is a 210 XLT, not a 210 SXT. The Metro does have two channels (like you said).

I have the Pre- US Music Eden Metro combo, which is a 210 XLT with a 600W amp at 2 ohms (I just checked it out on the back of the combo). I forget what the watts are at what ohms when you include additional extention cabs. That technical stuff, I never bothered to figure out.

I used to have a 115 XLT extention cab, but I didn't like the sound of the 210 + 115. I sold the 115 and got a 410 XLT cab to go along with it. So I'm essentially playing a 610 XLT.

I love the sound of my rig. It's punchy when I want it to be, warm when I want it to be and always clear sounding. The parametric EQ allows me to tweek it as needed depending on the venue. I did have a long learning curve trying to figure out the parametric EQ, but once I figured it out (and re-read and re-re-read the owner's manual), I find it to be a great asset. I've found that only very minor changes need to be made to make the differences I need. Most of the time, the EQ knobs are pointing straight up. When I do tweek something, it usually needs minimal boost or cut.

The only thing I don't like about my Eden Metro and 410 XLT is the weight. They are killer, and I'm 47 years-old. Thank God my back is fine. The only reason I'd get something different is if I can't deal with lifting those cabs anymore.

I know I'm in the minority, but I've owned a few Eden cabs, and have used I don't know how many on backline fly gigs...still have never heard an Eden cab I liked

I've cut down my Eden gear. Now just my WT550 and two 210XST's. The amp is about eight years old, cabinets somewhat newer. I've bought different stuff, like the Aggies, but I just can't let the 550 go. I use the TH500 for theatre and jazz gigs because of the size and weight factor, but I recently took the 550 just to compare, and there is no comparison, really!

I've been burned by the newer stuff. Had one amp blow up, and two others returned because of factory defects.

As others have said go play it if you are able to. You are basically asking for opinions right now which you may get what you want here, however it's true that regardless of what everyone says the rig may be worth every penny to you.

I hope your 210XST is 8 ohms, to allow you to add another, or possibly a 210XLT. Some people like the mixed XST/XLT cabinet combos. The amp itself is considered one of the better Eden amps, I think you will like the tone a lot.

I have pre US Music Metro, which is a combo based on the WT-550 (with an added solid state pre channel) and the D210XLT. It sounds great, but always was wanting for volume, even in an only moderately loud modern rock band. I paired with a D112XLT and that worked out pretty well, although the D112XLT is not a great cabinet in my opinion, it was good enough. My Metro along with my 4 Ohm Genz Benz 212UB cabinet is a stellar rig.

Those heads were between 700 and 800 new and the cabinet is 700 bucks. It's not way overpriced. 700.00 would be completely fair and a pretty good deal. 800 is not an amazing deal but certainly not a rip off. You could do much worse. It would be a great rig for under 1000.00

Agreed. I have a WT400 which I like, but not a fan of the cabs. It's actually pretty hard to find someone (that has actually owned one) that doesn't like the WT400.

I had a traveller 400 hooked up to a 410XLT and loved it- until I tried keeping up with a Marshall stack and a drummer who played with... gusto, let's call it. I ended up trading that rig in, got a Metro, and because it was SO close to the floor, started putting it on a lean to get the sound aimed towards my ears. That worked so well, I started using a stand and that actually made me turn down. I'm still looking to get a 410 to add some more loudness, but getting the 210 up off the floor helps a lot when I run into volume deficiency. BTW- anybody have thoughts on how an Eden 410T compares to the newer XLT/XST cabinets?
