The thinnest I have ( from the fret board face to the back of the neck) is a Samick artist series bass. Neck is super stable though.

Thinnest profile bass necks?

All I know is that the SR-375 (5-string) I just bought is 16.5mm and there are websites out there ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) stating 19mm for the 4-string SR models. But yes, IIRC the Veasley model is very narrow - 14mm.
Yup - Sterlings are still in production... For reference, A Sterling's neck is like a Fender Jazz, a StingRay's is like a P Bass... EBMM also makes an SLO 'Ray that basically has a Sterling neck on it...

SR500 and SR700 both have MK1s as far as I know - correct? Those are low end Barts. Stock Ibanez pres are not perfect either.
I have 3 different SRs:
1. SR1200 with upgraded pre (Flexcore) - very nice bass, but has a very specific single coil jazzy tone to it which I find doesn't fit everywhere.
2. SRT900DX with upgraded pre as well (BQC) - probably my favourite sound wise, but thicker neck and less comfy.
3. SR370F with upgraded pups (MK4CBC) and 5.2 pre - of these 3 has the most "boring" or "neutral" tone.
Having said that, I find Barts are much more predictable when you use overdrive or any fx. EMGs sound good as is, but once you start adding fx tone falls apart real quick - have to be very careful. Nordstarnds (big singles) are probably the most universal. If I had to have only one bass, it would have been SR1200.
p.s. Neck wise, SR1200 is the most playable, next is SR370F and SRT's neck is noticeably thicker.
I owned an older Peavey Cirrus 4 for a while. That thing was tiny no matter how you measured it, at the nut, front to back, at the 24th fret, etc.... It felt like someone had sliced the front off of a pencil!
The thinnest neck (front to back) I've ever played was a Moses Graphite jazz replacement neck. Very thin, flat board. Set up right, I imagine it could have been a shredders dream.

if we are talking about shredder basses with thin flat backed stable necks and not the off topic posts of " ya my nut is only 1.5 so it MUST be thin" I'm assuming?

Ibanez SR -- I own two at the moment. 706 and a 4006. I played a bass with a super wide neck and it felt like I was playing a piece of lumber. The SR necks just feel right to me, but I really don't know anything yet, I just started playing and these are my first basses.
The SGC Nanyo Bass Collection I have makes all of the ibanez, jazz basses, and everything else I have played feel large. I normally like a wider thin neck, but I love the feel of my Bass Collection.

Yeah I'd say the Ibanez SR series basses. The necks are almost too comfy in that you wish all your basses felt like that lol. I'm in the process of going 100% Ibanez for my newest band I'm in....it's hard to beat em for feel.
I had an old EB-0 that was narrow but quite thick front-to-back. I also now own a Stambaugh 6er that I specifically wanted extremely thin(front-to-back)but very wide(spacing, both@the nut & bridge). The term *profile* is, IME, used for either measurement. Not sure which is *correct*
Please don't confuse a Music Man Sterling with "Sterling by Music Man."
Music Man Sterling: Genuine Ernie Ball Music Man bass MODEL, made in the USA. Awesome neck. I happen to have one for sale in the TB classifieds. Best neck I've ever played, but I have three of them!
"Sterling by Music Man": The budget BRAND created by Ernie Ball. Imported, less expensive budget versions of the Sterling, Stingray and Stingray 5. Not a made in the USA Music Man Sterling model.
Yea, the naming thing is ridiculous and confusing. You want a Music Man Sterling, not a "Sterling by Music Man." Did I mention I have one for sale?
And yes, distinguish between neck width and neck depth.

I've owned over 100 basses, and the Peavey Palaedium has the thinnest neck I've ever played, no contest.
