Thinnest profile bass necks?

If you want to shred a good setup is more important than a thin neck.
My Spector Euro has a very thick neck but plays faster than my Ibanez SR535 just because the fretwork is superior and I can get a better setup on it.

Some gnarly shredders play Spector.

You can always sand down a neck. Fender Jazz Bass Special MIJ are thin. Even thinner fretless.

In my opinion, the necks on the prestige models are overall their smallest neck. The fretboard has the least width all the way up the neck, of any of their basses.

I think the premiums are slightly less thick past the 12 fret, but the fret board is wider up the neck. I feel like the width difference and the overall slimness of the prestige, makes it their smallest feeling neck.

Also, the older SR4 necks that ended about 3 or 4 years ago were super small in hand. I think they tapered more at the edges of the neck. The newer SRs feel slightly fatter at the edges.

FWIW, the neck on the sr3005 Prestige I had was a tiny bit "chunkier" than the neck on the sr905 I ended up keeping...

There is some variance in the Ibanez necks. The newer of my sr535s is more C-shaped, the older one is a little more D-shaped. Both are very thin. The body edges are rounder on the older one too. Just saying there appears to be variance even within the same model.

Narrowest neck I've played is my 1st year limited edition Geddy Lee Jazz.
Thinnest neck (front to back) I've played is my '08 Rickenbacker 4003.

The bass on the right in my avatar the neck is thin, wide, and flat and very nice to play on. And I own a geddy Lee Jazz. So I know thin and narrow.

That's what I'd have said. Thinner than an already thin Fender Jazz neck.

Most Peavey 4 strings use a very narrow J bass spacing. For really thin, many of the old Vox basses had very thin necks (all the way up). That being said, I had a Vox Phantom that was quite P bass like.

The ibanez SR are a good range..if you want a bit more meat in the body checkout the SRA (EMG pups ..i have the SRA500), and then meatier still is the SRX.. After i got the SRA i played an SRX in Sam Ash and was really impressed with everything except the weight.. real solid meaty tone.. suspect its a great rocker
