Why is it that whenever someone is explaining why they're selling a bass, they always say that they're just "thinning the herd". What, is everyone a damn rancher or something?

I've never read of someone "thinning the herd" but my guess is old basses need to be put down with a bullet in the headstock.

... on TB - bass life expectancy is about 120 days... then GAS (for - say... a Fodera) sets in... well - you know the rest gotta begin to thin the herd

My guess is alot of the riding going on at the ranch is done by the wife.

I'm guessing almost everyone is a rancher, because usually when they "thin the herd" it's because they're "pulling the trigger" on a new bass. Seems they're usually part of a "power trio" too.
