Well, how valuable were '78 P's in the late 70's, early 80's? I mean, if you're going to do it to a bass you play a lot, why not do it to one that plays and sounds good? Making a lot of assumptions there but I think my reasoning is sound (all except for the part about shooting flames across the stage lol!)

I have a bass I'd totally do this to - but probably not in such a permanent fashion. I wonder how it was controlled? Foot pedal? What gas? Igniter? Man, turning around the wrong way to adjust something on your amp might take out a lot of grille cloth. My band would dig it...

So it was modified in 1983. So it was just a normal bass back then… Haha. This is actually something I totally would do for fun to one of my bottom dollar basses. Knowing my luck 40 years from now I would find out the 2022 Glarry Jazz bass is super collectible.
