If it is a real Ric, how much would a mod like that devalue it?
This is the only photo on the ebay listing and the description doesn't mention any mods while the starting price is very low.... hence my assumption that it's gotta be a fake. I'd love to be wrong.

Normally a 70s Rickenbacker will have a bubinga fretboard with a gloss finish ... This one is either rosewood, or the finish has been stripped off. usually bubinga has more color and grain than that ... but some pieces of bubinga are dull looking like that ...
A 4000 will not normally have ric-o-sound ... and some 4001 / 4003 basses do not have ric-o-sound
Many years ago I owned a Greco Ric copy that would have fooled many people. Someone I had known bought it and had it sent over. This was top quality law suit era stuff. The only way to tell it was not legit was the color of the fret board.... A dark piece of Indian rosewood... Not the nice red stuff that A real one would have.
My vote is that it is a fake, a nice one, but still a fake.
Think I sold my fakenbacker for $600
No, that is a stock bridge. Also, note the Allparts tailpiece/bridge.
Aye, I modded her up to look like my old CS. Not 100% spot-on but close enough.drool
Cool,i've never seen a Greco Chris Squire model before.
