This has been my favorite bass solo for a while.

I'm with this guy, that along with the Mr. Pink videos on youtube are definitely 2 of my top bass performances of all time. Immediately after hearing that I hopped over the Jeff's website to order his solo cd, only to find out that song wasn't included Still an awesome cd!!

How is that bass tuned? It sounds too low on that bottom string to be "piccolo" to me. And "upside down"?

I think that is tuned F, Eb,F, Eb, F low to high.

recently i've played it lower - like D#,C#,D#,C#,D#

you can play it at any transposition as long as the intervals between strings of b7, 2nd. b7, 2nd remain intact.

Thanks for the info. Interesting tuning, alternating between very wide and very narrow intervals like that. And it is a regular 5 string bass, not a piccolo bass, correct?

it's a totally standard lefty pedulla penta-buzz with piccolo strings.

I'm not one for short scale basses - although I often use a capo on the MTD. I guess that counts as scale shortening.

The low F on that bass is an octave + semi-tone up from standard.
