This is unbelievable...

A couple days ago, a house down the road from me filled with propane due to a faulty water heater and exploded. The explosion killed 2 people, one whom i used to go to school with. I was amazed to hear the news. My sister said she heard the blast from about a mile away. I haven't gone past the site yet, but i hear there's nothing left, just debris.

Oh my God, that is just horrible.

We recently had a home explosion in MA, after the flooding from heavy rains, a large propane tanked-dryer setup was trying to get the basement of a not-yet-finished house dry, and it exploded...the house was still semi-standing, but was a total loss...glad no one died... this news is just horrible.

Glad, at least, that the 10 year old will pull through.

Back in my drywall days, one of the contractors we worked for brought in a bunch of propane heaters to help out the drying process in a house we were working on. He did a poor job of connecting one of the tanks. Later in the evening, it all exploded. Neighbors said there was a series of about three or four explosions.

The explosions blew out all of the windows, blew the garage door across the street, and lifted the entire roof off the house.....trusses and all. It was quite interesting to pull up to the house the next morning and see the roof sitting kind of sideways on top of the house, and fire trucks everywhere.

I saw that on the news the other morning. Just a pile of sticks and clothes and toys. When they found the little girl I guess she was barely visible under the debris. On top of it the temperature was so hot the rescue worker could only work in 20 minute shifts.

What a tragedy.

There is an empty lot about 3/4 of a mile away, right before
the I-95 entrance where the gas company had been working
on the utility in the street. Apparently there was a leak and
the basement of the house filled with gas. Naturally, the next
time the furnace or water heater fired up, the house was
completely leveled, the adjacent houses were pretty much untouched.

When I drove by, there was nothing but a pile of debris.
Fortunately, the tenant wasn't home. But imagine the shock
of getting home from work and seeing everything gone.

Yikes!.

That's awful.

A similar thing happened several years ago about 5 miles from my house. Luckily no one was hurt, but the explosion was loud enough to jolt me of of bed at 5 AM. They showed the site on the news the next day... it was a giant crater!

This happened in my town, too. About a block away from the house I used to live in. No one died, though. I think they did lose a cat or two. Not fun.
