There was a girl in my preschool class who had a crush on me that I didn't know about. Her way of telling me involved her (literally) jumping on me and giving about a dozen kisses while we were watching Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer during our recess period. She certainly didn't get charged with sexual harassment, and that incident certainly did not scar me in any way that has negatively affected throughout life. If anything, it has given me a pretty funny story to tell people.

Zero tolerance truly stands for zero thinking in today's school systems. We need to do away with these silly laws and allow teachers to make disciplinary decisions with the conjoined help of the parents and the school administrators.

We got "married," and we went to her house, and she told me to wait downstairs, and then she came down the stairs, and told me that since we were married, I had to see her naked.

I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I have to say, I was quite a lot different at five than I was at practically every other age.

In retrospect, I probably suspected I was going to be in trouble, but the fear I felt went beyond that. I didn't know my whole future had just stared me right in the face.

And how to we conflate what is probably a local decision (school board, local election for them or commissioner of schools) to either state or federal level government?

Or are you specifically referring to an elementary level school administration as 'the government'.

When I was 5 or 6 I was at a 'friends' house and he wanted us to pull down our pants to see our junk. It creeped me out and I asked to go home and had his mom call my mom.

If I ever had question as to if I was gay or not, that event has answered it pretty solidly. I can still remember it as a 'bad' experience.

Ya know, on a serious note, the press can really twist things big time to make for stories that draw a lot of attention.

In an instance similar to this, a teacher at the school I work at was fired this year for comments he made to some students. They said the comments were sexually inappropriate, and quoted 2 things he said that were pretty harmless. Something like his telling a couple that he hoped they used condoms (it's a highschool). This stuff made the New York post, and people were infuriated that someone would lose their job for such ridiculousness. Well, I knew the guy. His ridiculousness went waaaaay waaaay further than the papers reported. The guy was dangerous and should have been fired years ago.

The people reporting this crap know exactly what they're doing. This kid may have very well done a whole lot more than what was reported. I wouldn't jump to any quick judgements or conclusions.

And no, she really isn't all that hot now.

Beautifully stated. People like that don't put themselves in office/employment. They are either hired or voted in by throngs/committees of PC idiots. There are literally millions of blithering idiot dipsticks in this country. In fact, they are pretty much taking over. Santa Clause is being protested in a mall near here. Like most of these "kid subjected to intolerable intolerance" articles, there's no comment from the school board, or anyone at the school. Really, it's just a glorified, one-sided blog post based on complaints from a disgruntled parent. It may have merit, and it may not.

The child has been suspended before for behavioral issues--perhaps this incident is part of a larger pattern of disruption.

How many posters would be equally inflamed if the kid stayed in school, and this 'story' was spun differently?

Again, the parent may have a legitimate grievance. Or not. One can't really tell from this story--maybe it's best not to form a hard-and-fast opinion?
