Well whaddya know, there ARE still two sides to every story. So just take all those stories where you got kissed once by a girl in school and file them under "irrelevant", folks.

Zero tolerance policies are usually pushed by schoolboards, not school administrators.

Critical thinking works both ways, and charging six year olds with sexual harassment is moronic plain and simple.

Good thing the school didn't "charge" him with sexual harassment. Good things the school doesn't have any ability to charge him with anything.

Well - good thing the school has no ability, at all, to brand ANYONE as a sex criminal.

They just suspended the kid for violating the school sexual harassment policy.

And in this case "idiot" fits no doubt. The problem with these "zero tolerance" policies is that they eliminate critical thinking in the first place.

Yes... and the guy you're critically thinking is an idiot - almost certainly had nothing to do with implementing said zero tolerance policy. That is largely driven by school boards and insurance companies.

People who make these kinds of decisions are simply not qualified to educate anyone, I don't care how many letters they have after their name.

The people who "make these kinds of decisions" aren't educators. They're administrators.

Mostly they're administrators who have no choice, because they're operating under zero tolerance policies forced onthem by school boards or insurance companies.

Ok so if he tried many times to kiss her, he was in the wrong. So he should be punished.

Back in the good ole days he would have had his first experience with the "board of education" as applied by the teacher. May have received a "higher education" when he got home. (I always did).

Then it would have been back to school, with a new appreciation for the fairer sex and for authority, and it would last a lifetime.

As is, he now knows if he does something someone else doesn't like, he gets several days of watching cartoons.

Im pretty sure the stories are all still relevant, as we've just been sharing our own school experiences.

Unfortunately, that does not always occur in every case where people respond to this type of story.

You know it's a good thing when six year olds are measured by the same standards as adults. I wish we could go back to ye olden days when there was no such thing as "childhood". Forget this PC "school" idea I say, I'm sure there's a coalmine that needs cheap labor somewhere. Slavery and prostitution build character, amirite?

True, but whatever the facts the label sexual harassment when applied to a child is entirely inappropriate and this is what I reacted against myself.

In fact, truly precocious sexual contact and behavior and that age should be a red flag to anyone dealing with children that the child might be a victim of abuse themselves.

But most of the comments about context and the agenda of media are of course correct- on the other hand, these stories are a healthy springboard for debate and thinking about the issues. Anyone who thinks they know the 'truth' about these stories is seriously deluded.
