Beautifully stated. People like that don't put themselves in office/employment. They are either hired or voted in by throngs/committees of PC idiots. There are literally millions of blithering idiot dipsticks in this country. In fact, they are pretty much taking over. Santa Clause is being protested in a mall near here. I had a major crush way back in 1st grade on little Cindy P, and kissed here several times ... they thought it was cute.

Again, the parent may have a legitimate grievance. Or not. One can't really tell from this story--maybe it's best not to form a hard-and-fast opinion?

I dated a girl who worked at a local YMCA. There were kids 5,6,7 years old calling the adult women "bitches" and groping their breasts.

There are reasons people do things. Calling this administrative person an "idiot" is ignorant that people do these things for a reason. There are always reasons. Critical thought in saying, "hmm...let me examine more" is needed. Too bad the internet is just like playing wack-a-mole for many surfers. Wack a link, 10 seconds read, make assessment, wack another. Superifical understanding of events.

Beautiful post; thank you. As a teacher, I know that it's not always "poor little innocent kid vs. BIG, BAD, INTOLERANT, PC RUN AMUCK SYSTEM!!! Let's hear the whole story from all sides.

Yup, the idiocy of our entitlement society manifested in education policy continues. A friend of mine's mother is a teacher and is in trouble for holding loud and unruly students 6 minutes after the bell. I'll be surprised if this boy doesn't have to sit through court mandated sexual harassment courses.

On the other hand, if this is the most trouble that he ever gets into over a female then he should count himself very lucky!

Zero tolerance truly stands for zero thinking in today's school systems. We need to do away with these silly laws and allow teachers to make disciplinary decisions with the conjoined help of the parents and the school administrators.

When I was in the first grade, if I kept putting my lips on other kids, after about the third warning, my teacher would have cracked me on the ass and stood me in the corner for about 20 minutes to think about it. The humiliation would have awoken my conscience to the fact that, in the real world, we don't go around putting our lips on people against their wishes. I would have learned a quick, efficient, lasting lesson about boundaries and respect without being sent home.

Indeed, I'm pretty sure most of my lessons on respect were learned in that fashion, either first-hand or vicariously through observation of others.

But those days are long gone, teachers have been neutered, and in its place, we now have institutional political administrative consequences for children, and its confusing not only for adults, but for the child as well.

The school did it because everyone is frothing at the mouth. Surprised some of the Yahoo! posters aren't calling for revolution. Top post is someone asking "what has happened to the world?" Back to the logical fallacy pointed out earlier..

However, in the "article" they quote someone other than the mother of the boy. We're getting closer to context...

First this story has been all over the place including the wire services so taking a whack ad homonim doesn't justify any position, especially from one complaining about "superficial understanding" and "critical thinking".

I have no problem calling the administration person in this case an idiot. Critical thinking works both ways, and charging six year olds with sexual harassment is moronic plain and simple. Should the kid have been disciplined if he had a history of this kind of stuff? But discipline and branding a child as a sex criminal are two different things. And in this case "idiot" fits no doubt. The problem with these "zero tolerance" policies is that they eliminate critical thinking in the first place.

When a kid gets branded a sexual predator as a six year old for kissing a girl on the hand or suspended from school for chewing a pop tart into the shape of a gun in second grade, there isn't any thinking, much less "critical" thinking. People who make these kinds of decisions are simply not qualified to educate anyone, I don't care how many letters they have after their name. :rollno:

Charging and finding guilty in court are two different things. He would have never been found guilty and even if he was, the judge would have the say. That's called "the court system". The administrator was acting in accordance with the knowledge that was imparted to them. Since I have limited understanding of that knowledge, I am not qualified to make an assessment of their intelligence or character. You seem to be much wiser than I, so fire away.

Also, that "article" is just a repeat of the OP one, and another one posted after the fact quotes someone other than one person.

Insofar as the rest of your post, of course these stories are all over. So are stories about Kim's baby weight loss. The "Harlem Shake" was all over too.

These stories are blog-farts meant as filler because 24/7 news sites and news stations need material. One reports it and the rest follow quickly because talking about real meaningful things daily isn't as sensational. They know what they're tapping into, just as someone mentioned earlier. And using CNN as a beacon for meaningful news is like using an anus as air freshener.
