cool, different strokes. All of the home recordings, garage, small studio stuff I've done typically just get's D.I. All of the legit studios have always been both, and typically I just use the house gear- almost always a small cab (single 15 typically). Just my experience in the studios I've been lucky enough to track in ;)

Okay, so I'm back....

I had a slight emergency that drained my amp fund, SOooooo yeah I'm still on the search.

However I've been some looking around and I've come to a conclusion...

Going to go with a used Behringer BX4500h to start me out. From what I've read is that a cheap head on a solid cab will still sound pretty good. So my main focus here is that I need a solid amp cab to start, and upgrade the head later on.

So I'm thinking 400W @ 4ohms minimum or 300W @ 8ohms

Can't decide between 1x15 or 2x12.

My last amp was a 1x15 and I HATED it. The only tone you had was boom.

I want as punch and warmth as I can get however.

So I'm looking around 400$ used (just for the cab)

do you have a debit card or are you willing to go credit (pay that off pronto, and don't spend more than you have in cash on hand, IMO)? the guitar center used listings are PAGES deep. Yes you have to pay shipping, but it isn't overblown, they pack their stuff well, and you'd be paying shipping for anything else not local anyway. If you have a nearby GC you can have it shipped there, too if you live in a sketchy area where a package sitting outside might disappear. If you aren't into the gear, you can return it to your local store. Shipping cabs is pricey, so shop around $100 less than your budget for a cab allows, and you should be alright. Some store managers are jerks about it, but some will accept offers for less than asking price on the used gear to make the total price fit your budget.. not tons, but maybe 10-15%. Taking 10% off of a $300 cab... significant to someone on a tight budget.

Actually GC is right next to where I work. The problem is they never have a good selection of bass gear. Never any 212's available.

I'm completely cool with going used and zzsounds has an eden d212xst4 for payment installments of 112$ a month. (which is completely manageable)

They also have a TC electronics rs212 which is 175$ (A little tougher) but it'll be payed off in 4 months aside from 8.

Thought about taking out a small loan (more so to help build up my credit tbh) but I'm not to fond of that idea.

Been searching the USED on the GC website and haven't found much for my needs (wattage, speaker configuration, price)

I have the Eden 212xlt and it is a killer cabinet. It is fairly big and some would say it's heavy. It definitely keeps up with 2 half stacks and a ham fisted drummer with a 300 watt head. The xst has more power handling and a lower response, can't be a bad thing!

4 ohms kinda limits you to one cab. If you need more volume and want 2 cabs it limits you to a select few heads. Something to think about

Your last cab :) was a 115 that you hated. That doesn't mean that you don't like 115s. It means that you hated that 115. There are many quality 115s with good (or better) drivers that are very nice.

Still, if it's between a like-quality 212 & 115, the 212 will be potentially a bit louder w/greater displacement.

The brands you listed are fine, but among them, they don't have the bass cab market cornered. Why limit yourself? See what's available, research, & pick up the best one for your $400 (or whatever your budget may be). Check TB classifieds & any relatively nearby Craigslists or any other resources.

Roughly $500 after shipping, and this took me 3 minutes, and I price searched starting minimum $100. 300watt, 2-2x10 stack. May even be cheaper gear I didn't look very hard. It's there, you just have to look.

I dig deep into reviews before I buy Gear.

Didn't hear anything good about the GK Backline series or the Peavey TX series. Not to mention my last amp was a 200W Peavey TNT and I hated it.

It's cool though, I've figured out what I'm gonna do.

I can get a used hartke HA3500 for about 200$ and the Eden D212XST has the pay&Play option on it that I can afford. So I'm thinking of getting the Head on my next check, and then getting the cabinet (and cables) at the end of the month.
