This pedal is borderline unbelievable!

BOSS is very soon to release it's SY-1 Synthesizer....hopefully any day now. The demo video puts chills in my gig bag..... whether you're a guitarist or bassist this electronic wizardry packs opportunity for creativity. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the $199 price. Heck, there are many pedals in that price niche that basically only add "crunch" or "fuzzy illogic"....but this device is going to allow many players to bring a new sound to their performances that they never would have realistically had. No, I don't work for BOSS, nor have any affiliation with them....I just really love music and making occasional changes to the construction of the song.

I'm looking forward to it too but have to say that aren't both the Keeley Synth-1 and EHX bass mono synth cheaper and already released?

Doesn't seem Boss are doing anything particularly special here.

I'm nottoo hot on US pricing but the EHX is only £115 over here. So there's some cool, cheaper synth options already out on the market however I feel sure the Boss will be more versatile/tweakable.

I'm familiar with the two devices you speak of, but I can see that the BOSS pedal brings much more variation in synth-types as well as "tweak-ability" within each type. I didn't mean to infer that the $199 USD pricing makes me happy,... my opinion is primarily based on value comparison with what's available in the marketplace as well as BOSS's longstanding reputation for quality in the products they sell. If you buy one of these, I'll keep my eyes open to see if you choose to demo it......best regards, DonP

And there’s the thing... the boss has better tracking, more “modes” and sequencers etc... may not be as crazy as the higher offerings like future impact or source audio c4, but definitely an awesome step above the basic synth stuff and for the people that don’t want midi / USB editing etc, seems pretty good at controlling the 121 varieties / effects

The Keeley is cool but it's not the same kind of thing - it's much more "3 types of fuzz plus octave variants and a static filter you can sweep with an expression pedal".

It definitely does look cool, but I think you might be getting a bit over excited about this pedal. There are plenty of other synth pedals out there, so guitarists and bassists can totally realistically have sounds like this without that specific pedal.

Well I'm with you man!! I already pre-ord mine and I can't wait till it gets here!! Def worth the price tag IMO and it does a lot for the size and price. Hell excited :hyper:

You're right. But as some have already stated, for the size and price, it'll be hard to beat for all the features and sounds you're going to get. I've been waiting for a synth like this to come out for years. I don't use synth that much. But when I do, I want options and I want it to sound good. And since I don't use it that much, I didn't want to spend a lot and I didn't need a big device that "does it all". I wanted a small, compact and easy to use option. While there are quite a few on the market that fit that description, and they don't have the same amount of sounds and parameters that I've seen and I think the SY1 really pushed the boundaries with its size and sound set.

I'll add, I thought the EHX Mono Synth would've been awesome, and is, but it seems like it came up short in the sounds category. Then the SA C4 was going to be the one I was going to get. That one I bet would beat out the SY1 in sounds and parameter options. But the Boss was easier for me to get atm. I still may get a C4 down the road. I love both companies too but I've always seemed to hold on to my Boss pedals.
