All right man! Maybe I’ll go back over to guitar Center tomorrow and grab it. The guy I was dealing with who is the manager there and he said that thing is gonna be gone very soon in his opinion.
I have no freaking way to play it if I get it as my SWR head is shot. I’m corresponding with another member on this site that is selling his Gallien Krueger MB 500. From what I’ve heard, it seems to be a decent head.
I'm pretty sure that you won't be disappointed by the combination of GK and a jazz bass! Good luck, have fun and post pics!
Thanks man….I hope so! I definitely will post pics. This whole situation came out of nowhere. It’s almost surreal. I haven’t played seriously since 1999. Haven’t even plugged my bass in to play with the exception of my son knowing where it was and getting it out.
If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have even known my amp was blown and that’s what started this whole trip!
That's awesome! I too had a long hiatus from music. My daughters interest is what brought me back. She's sat in for a few songs at a few of my bands gigs. Nothing cooler than watching your kid rock out!
That’s so cool, what a proud moment that must’ve been. Crazy, it’s very similar to my situation.
You'll find there's quite a few of us around here with similar stories. By the way, I see you're fairly new here so welcome to TB! Lots of knowledge here. Oh, and don't EVER expect anyone here to talk you out of buying new gear. We're all enablers.
"Feels good" is the number one reason to buy a bass. A random one from GC may not play as nice.
Feels good, looks good, snag it before it's gone!
Most times I go to my local GC, almost nothing is setup to play (at least what I consider comfortably playable) so it makes it really hard to gauge what feels right on the spot- unless I'm wielding a stealthbag of hex wrenches on-site. So for me, when I pull a bass off the shelf there and it feels right, the unicorn comes home with me.
I'm normally an enabler, buy it if it feels right is what I would say. However...
"Never played a Fender before."
I'll just point out that, for someone who doesn't specifically want a Fender (habit, brand fan, particular sound/look needs on stage) I would never ever recommend one today. There are far better Fender-shaped objects and others at lower prices these days, e.g., all the Sire and Yamahas.
That is, if one finds the search experience enjoyable. Otherwise, a good quality Player is as good as any and it sounds like a Fender. Nothing wrong with it. I own one too. You like it, it makes you happy, go for it.
Just an FYI. This particular model/color is perpetually on sale at GC for I believe several years now. It is not going anywhere.

2) I have 3 Jazz basses. Two MIMs and one CIJ GL Sig and I play them more than my American. But my American is a Precision P/J, not a Jazz. And I have a MIM Precision as well. All of them have been great basses. But the flame top Jazzes have had their hooks in me for about a year and half now and I just got the CIJ back in June. What do you think my answer will be?

Actually, the green one is getting the most playing time right now and has been for the last year. I just put a set of half rounds on it back in July. If the one you're looking at feels right I'd get it. Besides, it's GC, if you don't like it, they'll take it back. But if you liked it at the store, you'll really like it when you get to play it through your own rig.

Man…..I think I’m going back tomorrow and getting it!!!! Ha haha….what am I doing?! I don’t even need a bass. I need a head to plug it into! If I bring it home , I can’t even plug it in and play.

I'm already a big fan of jazz basses and maple necks, and that blue burst finish ties it all together as one freakin awesome bass! I would pay that money for it. Seems like a good deal actually

Well, yeah it helps to have a rig to play it through. Any thoughts there on what you want?
I played a 2014 Fender Am. Std. Jazz through an MB500 for years and it was great. My backup was a Squier VM Jazz and that sounded and felt good too. The Player series is somewhere in the middle of the two and if it felt good - definitely buy it rather than taking a gamble on a used one just to save a little over $100.
I played a Player P and ended up taking it home from GC and a PBass isn’t even my daily type of bass. That one just played and sounded really good.

For sure. I actually just remembered I have an old Dean Markley 8” practice amp in the attic I got back in the 80’s as a teen! Guess I’ll have to fire it up.
So I found a person on this forum selling a Gallien Krueger MB500 for a very good price including shipping across country. I think I’m pulling the trigger on that too.
