This time will be the one

I gave up trying to find a J I like. I've bought and sold many. The last one I tried modifying with new neck, bridge, tuners, pickup, pots, essentially everything thing but the body. It still sounds and plays like a J, and I still dislike it. O keep it because every now and then someone asks for it.

I was always primarily a DB guy, and I've always liked fretless BG, but i don't like playing fretless BG. I also gave up on 5-string, even though my only BG for 15 years was a 5-string Warwick - just couldn't connect with it every time I took it out over the past couple years.

Now I'm primarily playing a short scale BG, and my trusty EUB feels too big, but i can't decide on my next move for a bowable, shorter scale fretless bass.
