I have a collection of experiences to tell.
...Twenty-five years ago I was an 11 year old child enjoying a night out at J. ALEXANDER's with my family. My cousins were in town, and we wound up in the restroom of J. Alexander's daring one another to recite the name Candyman in the mirror. I did it.
Nothing happened.
Later that night we had returned home. I lived in a two story house with the family area on one side and a small half bath directly on the other. I decided I needed to use the restroom.
As I was washing my hands the electricity went out. I frantically reached for the locked door knob, trying to scream as if someone was going to kill me. I couldn't scream. I distinctly remember this as being very strange. I found the knob, unlocked it and ran through the dark house sure that I was being chased.
If you've ever experienced sheer terror, your body gets into a fight or flight mode. My body was moving, but I felt like it was about to collapse in the dark. I couldn't feel anything but a tingling sensation. If you lie face down on the floor with someone standing over you, staring intensely, moving slowly toward your back and you get that cringe in your spine...imagine that amplified to the point of immobilization.
I made it back to the family room. No one heard me when I tried to scream, and I didn't mention what had happened until years later.
...My sister had night terrors in this same house. Once seeing a tall man in a top hat, staring down at her. Once she said I had hands reaching toward me as I slept. Another she saw red eyes in place of my mother's, staring at her from the doorway. I do distinctly remember around this time reaching down at the head of my bed towards the floor around and receiving a scratch to my hand. Upon investigation, there was nothing there that could have done that.
...In this house, years later when I was maybe 16, I was alone at night, roughly 2-4am. I can't remember. I was awoken by a radio in another room. I went to investigate. The radio was on. I turned it off.
...My mom and my sisters were at the top of the stairs one night and they saw a shadow walk into the bathroom that I would later run trying to scream out from.
...When I was in my mid-twenties my grandmother died. I was sitting in my room playing bass when I felt something behind me. You can feel eyes on you. I slowly got up, spine tingling, and inched my way to the door. I left my amp on, I just got out. This was the same week she died.
...I don't know if I believe in ghosts, but I've experienced things that feel like some sort of energy trying to move to communicate. I've felt peace in certain situations, and I've felt the presence of evil in others. I can't explain it, but I know I've felt it. My mother sold that house, but I still drive by it from time to time. I feel a negativity down the whole road, and when I pass by my old house I look in the upstairs bathroom window like my eyes are drawn to it. I feel like if I look long enough I will see the evil I felt in that house staring back at me as I pass by.
