I have to agree regarding the Harley Benton items. Good enough to be playable and give you a low priced solution when wanting to try a new instrument to see if you like it.

I also agree about the EUB. After much research, it seems it is a Palatino, but slightly upgraded in regards to quality and quality control. I've never played an UB of any kind, and don't want to spend the money on an AUB as a trial. I've heard enough good things and minor mads that you can do to the HB EUB 500 that make it sound, good, playable, very similar to an AUB in feel and technique used and it can be bowed. All good stuff.

I was very happy that although I'd already placed an order last week (pending, as the stock isn't in until February) they allowed me to redeem my voucher against it. That's great service, as they're missing out on €50 I'd already committed to spend with them. They know how to build customer loyalty, that's for sure.

Good news, I went in, changed to the UK, and saw the voucher ad at the bottom of the ratings pages.
Also, I went back to the items I had rated prior to switching to the UK (no voucher offer) and I had the opportunity to edit them. I switched to the UK and edited them, in hopes that it would get me the vouchers. Let's see.

Question, how long before you saw the email mentioning the vouchers?

I did mine lunchtime on Wednesday, got the voucher code Thursday morning. You may have to wait until Monday now for yours.

I just had some email contact with them regarding the purchase of a gigbag. I told them my limit and got offered an item that was slightly above my limit with a discount (around 12%). I sent them my voucher code and recieved an invoice for the remaining $$.

Somehow it's hard to believe they manage to run such a behemoth of a company on such a personal level.

Looks like I'm the first US post in this thread. Nice ...

Through research I've discovered that a fair amount of Schaller hardware and parts aren't available in the US, including some satin chrome/aluminum dome knobs that I want to retrofit onto a bass. (The knobs come standard on some versions of this bass (Elrick Expat NJS4), but my version has black plastic jobbies.)

Thomann sells them, but its website wants 60€ to ship ANYthing here -- even five tiny control knobs I'd end up paying about 30€ for max (including VAT, which shouldn't apply but is partially offset by the customs tariff of about 10 percent). I guess I'm wondering if Thomann will negotiate the shipping cost for so small of an item?

(Disclosure: I used to order motorcycle parts from Europe all the time years ago since so much cool stuff wasn't available Stateside -- and prices were often less after currency conversion. Heck: despite the (relatively) weak USD, Sandberg basses are still cheaper when bought from Europe than from a US dealer.)

It never hurts to ask :)
Although, I do know that, in general, shipping stateside from europe CAN be pricey, in general.

Keep in mind, shipping from Thomann (Germany) to Greece is a flat 20 Euro fee, so 30 to the U.S. is not ALL that outrageous.

Did you happen to notice if there is a limit you can spend and NOT pay shipping. To Greece any order over 299 Euro is free shipping.

On my last shipment, I got 5 people together to place 1 big order and eliminating the shipping fee.

Once comment not mentioned about the vouchers, they expire!
I received mine (50 Euro) about 2 weeks ago, and it expires April 30. I am hoping to use it to purchase an EUB, so I hope I can have the rest of the funds by then.
