Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Rounds

Johnny whats the verdict on the ti jazz rounds after several months ? still like them how have they changed (the way the flats change and settle in?).

They remain incredibly consistent over time. They have become hands down my favorite round. The low tension does take a little getting used to but in my opinion has positively affected my playing. Since becoming a dealer I recommend these over any other TO round unless someone has a total aversion to the low tension.

ive just got on the flats from ti my next set of rounds will be these.
thanks for the info. I am looking forward to putting these on one of my jazz basses.

I use virtually nothing but TI flats, which are my favorite string. I put a set of TI jazz rounds on my Sadowsky, but didn't really like them. I really did like the warm finger tone, but I missed the thump of the TI flats and the tension really did cramp my style too much. I found that since I love TI Flats, if I want rounds, I want rounds with more punch and growl like Dr. The TI's rounds are too much like the flats for my to really dig them. Just my opinion though.

I've got a string GAS relapse recently.
I love Thomastik-Infeld strings much and would have sex with them if I didn't have a wife. My current favorites are Superalloys and Jazz Flats, both have a great midrange, but they also have inherent benefits and drawbacks of their types: Superalloys lack decay, Jazz Flats lack high mid fuzz and don't slap well.
My question is, compared to regular roundwounds, do Jazz Rounds have some solid thump and decay? Do they slap well? I'm not looking for bright sizzling high end, but want a solid midrangey, erm... slap.

I have used TI Rounds for many months, first on my Fretted and then frettless. I can offer the following:I hated the slap tone. It was simply-just ok. No balls to the low notes, and no pop on the G and D string. The SIT rounds I replaced them with are MUCH better for slap (and really cheap!) They are nothing like DR lo riders which are thicker, meatier, and about 5x as stiff. The jazz rounds are so lo tension, you can just about bend a F natural on the E string up a whole step. There is NOTHING else that compares to them in feel that I have ever played. Either you like it, or you hate it.

So we have a thread about the flatwounds but not the rounds. Also searching the forums I see there is a 4-1 ratio of flat threads to rounds.

I just picked up a set and it will be my first try with them.

I have played every other TI string including the Flats, Superalloys and Powerbass but these will be new to me. I am still a tad apprehensive about the low tension but I do enjoy a lower tension and I wanted a smoother easier round for a Fullerton reissue I have coming to me.

Anyone using these? Like them? Is the E string too skinny?
That ratio is because theres much more diversity among flats than rounds

I have the rounds on a Pino and really like them. They are unlike any round I've used.
I'm a fan of a slinky feel which is the main reason I tried them. The flat thump is not there but I have that with another bass. The clickity zing is also not there so not the best rock/thumb string. But they have a great warm lyrical tone, brighter than the flats, and feel great, effortless to play. I guess I would have to categorize them as a great finger style string.

I switched from Maxima/Optima Golds to super long Jazz Rounds JR364 a few months back.

The 364s are a bit more stout than the JR344 diameter wise, and they fit my 34" scale strung thru body semi-homemade fretless bass perfectly.

They're easier on the hands than the Maximas and they sound fine.

I had issues with wolftones and dead spots that went away after the changeover...

Longevity hasn't been established for me, yet. I got years from a set of Optimas.
