No no no no no no! I am older! Play Fender Jazz bass and then hand made WAL fretless. Changed to DB 1980, when I was 36 years old. So how old am I today?

I know there's a lot of useful links in the stickies.
but wanted to share my feelings towards this experience. I'm very new to upright...only got it last month.
feeling a bit discouraged.
had one lesson, but looking for a regular teacher when I move into a new area of the city.
but until then.....
it's hard to come from feeling that I'm a pretty good player on electric to really sucking on the upright.
my left hand hurts. I can't imagine playing for any length of time..it's the fleshy bit at the base of my thumb mainly.
can't play it as loud as I'd like to be able to. the guy I had a lesson off played it crazy loud.
I didn't expect to be able to play this thing straight off the bat... just wanted to vent here.
There must be other guys out there going to/have gone through the same stuff.
