Hey fellow TBers.
I’ve been doing lots of research on building a super flexible, mostly guitar-centric pedal board and was originally planning on expanding my bass pedal board just a little more for some experimenting but found it’d be a waste trying to tack on ‘verb and modulation when I just don’t need it for my applications, namely church bass and fall or spring orchestra concerts when time permits. After refining my compact bass board over the years, I ended up with this:
JHS A/B (for DW Combustion 5-string and Warmoth fretless P-bass)
DG MT Infinity
SA C4
SA Lunar Phaser
And what I’ve found is thusly:
I originally wanted a great all-in-one bass solution with some drive options (that I evidently don’t use) when I really want a flexible compressor and EQ independently.
I wanted to try some pad fill-in when I’m playing without a keyboardist but don’t have the know how and often, the need to do so.
And I really wanted some Casiopea bassist phaser sounds and Rush chorus sounds when I use neither regularly.
In my research to build a guitar tone-sculpting machine with MIDI capabilities, I’m finding it would make way more sense to just sell all of this and then dial in a preset/scene for when I’m playing bass and still have the possibility to audition some bass ambience on the side. So far, I’m looking at something like this:
So, my question then is this: would I be missing anything running my bass through this (and eventually, a Torpedo C.A.B. M+) compared to my current setup? My future plans are to get a bigger board and add an HX ONE so I’d have the option of using one-off effects for whatever I want, no matter what I have plugged in. If I sell my current pedals off, I’d be able to scoop up an EQ2 and Atlas at the minimum which would cover my bass tone needs easily.
