Eh, I think that was mostly said tongue-in-cheek. And he's probably right. Bass players are probably more likely to fawn over a bass player who "overplays" in comparision to one who just plays "normal" bass parts. If that's one's definition of "overplaying".

And Lizzy, I'd probably fawn over you too. I kinda have a thing for female bass players. Especially if they can groove. One of my best friends is a female bass player ( [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] ). The guy in the photos with her is Moe! Staiano, percussionist from Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

i love it when folks try to dictate what i do and what i don't do based on their own private musical paradigms. after all, you don't see me doing that to them - i could care less, i either like something i hear or i don't, i don't have to justify my opinions. but seeing folks get themselves worked up over my instrument choice, feeling the need to insult my playing or my approach, i love it. i'm doing something definitely right.

I know you didn't say this to me, and I don't currently play more than a 5 string, but I'll add that I've had other bassists fawn all over me at the end of the gig, and it certainly wasn't from playing too many notes....just doing minimal groove stuff. I dunno, I think they usually say something about being really tight with the drummer.

Either that or they just liked my boobs.

i think its the fact that you have connected with an audience member that leads the to fawn? is that really the right word? LOL

its about connecting, if its from more strings, to little strings, to little notes, cool poses, or even big boobs...

its great to connect...

man i hope that my "connection" does not have anything to do with big boobs...

i gotta go run around the block now!
