THUMB GARD OR NOT? OOOO SCARY QUESTION! LOL

i don't anchor anything - use the thumb for a mute or pluck with it, while i pluck with my fingers (classical guitar style), and i pluck pretty hard, sometimes within an inch of the bridge saddle. for me, it's all about controlling my hand, and where my fingers are - i don't need an anchor.

it's pretty difficult to be effective on a 7 or 8 using an anchor, ime. it's also a waste of energy - the same thing is taught in martial arts. you want to keep your stances loose, or you'll land on your butt.
