New A-Designs Pre amp/DI

All that tells you is the center of the band. If it's a shelving control, it'll boost everything from 200hz and down. It it's a bell it'll center at 200hz, and affect frequencies on all sides based on the Q width. Plenty of bass controls up this high work great.

That is absolutely correct. I am just spoiled with having units in the past that have some carving ability. If it was a shelf, that would be a nice feature for sure (not that the bell is the end of the world). The point I was getting at was that most eq's have a lower frequency chosen for the low/bass frequency (like 80hz or 100hz), but a shelf would definitely include those frequencies as you pointed out. Not trying to cause any conflict, just making an observation. A Designs makes great gear, I meant no slight toward them.

I completely get it!! Initially when I heard the frequency point I thought the same thing, then I remembered the other factors, no worries my friend!! I can't wait to get my hands on this baby and I'll for sure be getting it on video!!!

I have one of the Dual Mono prototype version preamp of that finished unit.. It will easily drive a poweramp..
Sounds like what you would imagine a Solid State REDDI would be.. If you want to , you can also cascade channels in this unit. ala. output of "A" into input of "B" then out of "B" into amp or recording A/D. since teh unit has some hefty OP transformers you can drive the transformers to saturation for some real nice saturated effects.. Its also Clean as a whistle...

Teh Mono Version has added EQ section.. That wasn't ready at the Alleva Coppolo . A-Design BASSACRE in April.. But this Blue one was.
Peter also changed the name from this the original prototype version from Gspot to the KGB for Keyboards, Guitar, Bass DI Great units!
This is the prototype without updated metal work and graphics

I beg to differ with that opinion. Construction is an indicator, but not in a preordained manner. My own recordings of the REDDI prove that point, and I've owned two of them so I appreciate its performance but am not convinced it is always best quality.

You should listen with your ears, not your eyes.

Haha!! I'm extremely fortunate to be able to try, demo and own some of this gear. I'm a firm believer in the "poop in=poop out" concept. Give me an old Tascam Porta Studio, a 1/4" cable and a blank cassette and I'll still sound like ME, and on a good day I'll sound decent. This stuff is the cream of the crop, icing on the cake, and super fun to mess with....IT doesn't make you sound/play better, that's up to YOU....but it doesn't hurt to have a great signal chain going into your recording rig to inspire you to get better.
Oh, I almost forgot the most important thing....blah blah blah, blah blah, blah blah blah blah......blah.............blah blah blahhhhhhhhhh blaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!
