The idea for a Thunderbird bridge that intonates I developed in 1983. Intonation without modification has been my mantra for years. In 2005 I released the Badbird Bridge and it was very well received by touring pros and collectors alike. I have Thunderbuckers in several of my basses, two of them Cataldo basses. I find the Thunderbucker provides a far more accurate representation of a vintage Thunderbird pickup. Imho the SDs don't have the inherent overdrive of a good 60's Thunderbird pickup. The Thunderbuckers do in spades. The SDs are just to clean, they have the mids and treble but not the grind.

Just a little something from Mike Lull, here's a completed Non Reverse Thunderbird body, just about ready to go the NAMM.
Dammit! Mike Lull is making this tough. I am already in love with that 24 fret jazz with thunderbird pickups, and then he goes and does this. How's a guy supposed to quit buying basses?

As promised, here are a few shots of the '64 Thunderbird II, in front of my '05 Impreza.
Greetings from your basses cousin - a 64' T-bird II #217533 - OHSC, brass mute, white felt mute pads, covers and all - pic taken within the hour I got it in 1978 - still own and play it on special occasions. A nearly 50yr old tone monster! I have known snow (this was shot in Chicago) but it's been a while...

Well I've just got my first Thunderbird and I'm super impressed. Doodling about at home I got some good sounds out of it (and it handles drop B tuning really well), but I took it to rehearsal yesterday and it just sits perfectly, I can't believe I didn't try one sooner.
I know no pics = no bass, so I'll get one posted today.

Here's a picture of my 76'T Bird..With my oldest daughter back in the early 8o's...and a picture a few years later..gotta get her away from those P Basses
The second picture is about six ago..I'm still swinging the 76'from time to time..Third picture is from the spring..Why is it that Basses don't get gray and fat as they get older?..
