T-Bird i like this model as i have a thing about natural finishes....I don't/won't play a painted instrument for the most part...if i did get one of these it would get passive pups! or at the very least and active/passive bypass switch!

This is freaking gorgeous!

I did get to see Jeff Ament's personal version of this a few months back, Mike makes beautiful basses - works of art ;)

You could likely find lots of great comments about the Epi throughout the thread, in general the guys that have them lie 'em a lot. A good online vendor like Sweetwater might be your best option.

Freudian slip? "Lie ... a lot" LOL

I know mine may not be a true "Thunderbird" in tone, it actually reminds me more of my old Spectors, but it has all the other benefits of a 'Bird, especally the looks. I was at a blues jam with mine and a guitarist looked at it and said "That is gonna bring the power!" to which I heartily agreed!

This is true. Sweetwater is showing you the actual photos of the bass tou are ordering. They also do a check and set up before shipping. Depending on tech workload, this could delay the shipment until the next day. They are more than happy to answer any questions about the instrument and have also been known to find one in their stock that matches your desires.

Did someone say natural? My first build circa 1981. I took two pieces of 7/8" mahogany and glued them together, routed and carved the top and back by hand. fantastic sounding bass. I still brake it out from time to time.

My new left-handed Thunderbird IV should arrive on Monday. Is the string spacing at the bridge relatively wide or narrow? Thanks.

Here's the nearest shot I have of a three point and a tape......Was actually referencing the opti grab. Maybe Carlo will drop by, I swear he's got that stuff memerized :)

Wanted to thank everyone who helped me out on this forum a while back, sourcing parts to chrome the Tbird.
Had several questions some time ago. Got sidelined with an injury to left hand, so I was absent for a while....
Good to be back.
Cheers.

Nice to have you back!
I scanned the roster page or two back, didn't see you - shall I add ya? I see ample evidence of Thunderbird goodness :bassist:

I think I'm #237... (just checked, that's it, I'll add it to my sig.)
It was a long time ago!
Too long.
I think it was you who helped me out with a bunch of questions.
Thanks again!

BTW, I had some inconsistency in string volume when I first got the Tbird, E string was always much louder,
I switched to DR Hi-Beam roundwouds, problem solved! Love this bass.

Hi there,
I ordered a black Thunderbird and it'll arrive next week. Now I'm looking for some parts to customize the new Bird. I want to replace the Trussrod Cover for a black Trussrod Cover with a red Gibson lettering on it and I also want to have a black pickguard with a red bird on it. Do you know where i can get these parts?

Besides that I'm looking for some black Poti-Knobs with red digits like the one on the Nikki Sixx Signature Thuderbird.

Best regards
