It seems to in the Epi Pro models, but the other models seem to stay pretty consistent.

Check 2 to 3 pages back, there were some pictures posted of Epi Pro's (mine's one of them) all with a bit different color
most noticeably is that some go to black on the edge and some(like mine) go to brown/reddish on the edge.

Thanks for the responses. I was thinking of the Gibsons. I've seen pics from a deep reddish to brown to yellowish.

The left-handed Thunderbird arrived. It's beautiful, but I'm having some trouble getting used to it. Mostly in that it wants to sort of tip over from the top. I guess it's because of the strap pin placement. The only strap I have to try on it slides fairly easily, so I'm guessing that a strap that doesn't move might help. Looking around.

Ergonomics are different on a 'bird. Better in some ways, worse in others, but definitely different. Some 'birds dive a little, others want to face the floor. A lot of it is the strap pin placement. Don't give up on it; they really are great basses.

Nice looking bass! You are correct, a strap that won't slide is very helpful. Try a suede strap, or at least one with unfinished leather on the bottom side.

The other thing you can do is rest your left forearm on the bass when you are playing it. That will shift the whole bass to your left a bit, which might take some getting used to. But once you get comfortable playing it that way, you won't have a problem with tilting or diving.

Oh yeah, invest in some good strap locks.

Thanks! As far as I know, Vintage Sunburst and Black. I'm usually a black guitar guy, but damn are the Vintage Sunburst Thunderbirds beautiful.

They're really small and lightweight, the Hipshots won't make a difference there, however I think they're a lot better looking if you're after a vintage look. The downside is that they are just slightly too wide - so when they're all in line the clovers will touch each other slightly. Since it really has very little chance of actually occuring I went ahead....

I was thinking of the Y Key ones, but if they won't make much of a difference, I'll leave well enough alone.
