Thunderbird Club Pt 6

That's probably the first (if only) thing I'll change on a vintage Thunderbird if I get one.

Speaking of which, there's a '77 on ebay with the button under the neck by the lower bout. Other than limiting upper fret access, I wonder how it effects the balance.

I'm pretty sure I know who the seller is, that's a well played Thunderbird -most likely it was flipped and played lefty, thus the pin in the odd location.

Does anyone wall-hang their T-bird, and find that the weight of the body (over time) flattens the fretboard enough to make the strings buzz? (This guitar is drop tuned so the string tension is lower).

It's not hanging it. It's the humidity. I've had to adjust all mine this week. Slack the strings, give the trussrod a little tweek counterclockwise and re-tune it.

I've been getting some pretty bad fret slap noise in the lower frets. I love the action height, though. Maybe I have to give it a truss rod adjustment still. You can hear the noise here.

I am from the Scottish Borders area, which is in the South of Scotland. I live in a nice rural area 22 miles from a town. The Strap and PG were made to order by a friend of mine who is a very skilled leatherworker. She lives here in Scotland by originally she came from LA.

Seeing the 5'er in red makes me kick myself for going with black. When I ordered mine from MF in '08, it was just before they discontinued them and they only had two left- one black, one red. The pics they had on their website didn't do the red justice. Looks sharp!

question for the nikki sixx Mk II version owners: How does it sound since it supports a kill switch, master volume and master tone? I'm considering doing the same to my goth but for now it only has the kill switch and it has killer tone and a great growly snarl to it when distortion is added.

I was wondering exactly how did you wire it up for only a kill switch - could you post some pictures or something?

I will post pictures when i get the bass fixed. loose wires. I had trouble at first cause after everything was hooked up, once i had the control plate over it, the slightest pressing would cut the sound. I had gotten myself a double pole single throw switch if im not mistaken cause i was originally going to do the MK II nikki sixx wiring. But then decided it was too long to do for now so i just hooked up the kill switch like the black bird. Here's a pdf of bass schematics. just look for the epiphone blackbird wiring diagram in it and that's how my bass is wired up.

It was made to order and attracts quite a few comments. I fitted the thumbrest as I was actually starting to loosen the pick up when I used that as a rest.
