Like I said, that's pretty much the voice of God - right there.

It's the voice of G.O.T. Been playing them since '77 or was it '78? My first was a '76 I bought in '76, shortly after I got my first NR, still have it.

Finaly got to take a couple of pics of my trans black tbird pro iv. Love this bass great looks amazing fast neck and sounds great with a pic (no more finger playing took end of my right index finger in an accident at work now don't sound right or move fast enough). So versatile with the active pre and the bridge is so much nicer than the 3 point found them uncomfortable. Can I have a number please

It looked beautiful... sounded amazing... and got sold for a STEAL! The bass and I just weren't a good fit.

Thanks for the number TBird1958. Now I want the same bass in sunburst or the new classic pro in white with the same bridge as on mine instead of the 3 point. Want to know what the passive Gibson pickups sound like first though before I choose which one.

Just really little enhancement notes attached to E. So I'm toying with the idea of going 5-string. Please convince me I don't need to.

Thanks. . Yeah, I've looked into the xtender. I love Hipshot. But then I'd be having to reorient my placement on the fretboard and it sounds like it would be more of a pain than it's worth. No?

I've bought a Epi Pro V, that I don't really use - can't adjust to the really wide neck, and don't particularly like the feel and sound of the b-string (no tension and lacks definition) and rarely need to go there - and it's heavy too!!!

Will however give it another chance with a set of Rotosound Swing Bass and see it that helps - might even go with a high C string instead.

Ultimately I might convert it to 8 strings, but the headstock has a downward angle that's not perfect for the job.

Well, we all adjust to things differently, but all of my four-bangers have D-Tuners. Certain songs just work really well in drop-D tuning, and it's super-easy to do root-fifth stuff too. For me, it's just a mental switch that I throw in my brain. Kinda like speaking a different language.

Or you could buy a 2nd cheap used bird, and have it setup with an alternate tuning - this way you won't have to adjust your playing style - and you would have the joy of owning one more bird...

Ah... I completely overlooked the fact Ken was a lefty - I thought he was talking about getting a 5-string t-bird, and not a 5-string in general...

But still - you cannot have enough t-birds in your arsenal: drop-tuned, fretless, with round wounds or with flat wounds... Always nice to have a little bit of variation.

Yeah, things are way more limited for me. And historically you have to buy before you try.

As for the lower than E, I have to see next band rehearsal how often I realistically want to go lower.
